The Hon: Acting Registrar-General,

"I advise dismissals from

the service."

14 Dec? 1893.

(Signed.) A. M. Thomson,

The Hon: Colonial Treasurer,

"If Mr. Ayers gave satis-

faction during

his second term

in the Police Force, he might, I think, receive pension for that pe-

riod. His present offences do not

appear very serious,

nor is it stated

that they were, as a

matter of fact, due to drink. I

have been informed

that

he has, during his service in the

Asylum,

been

drunk to such

an extent

as to render him unfit for duty,

but rather that his retention is

undesirable

owing

to

more than

his

regularly

being

drunk.

I think he should be

allowed to resign, if he under-

takes to do so on

present date, and without pension for

service in the Medical Department. If he declines to accede to these

terms, he should be dismissed!"

(Signed) A.G. Mitchell,

Attorney General,

Above opinion is, of course, liable to alteration after hearing Myers' defence.

14 Dec? 1893.

(DA) A.G. M.I.

The Hon:

Attorney General,

I have read General

Barker's

Minute and I concur, & do not

think it a case for a pension.

(Signed) J. M. Gooderson

4th Dec? 1893.

The Hon: Colonial Secretary
